Do you hate getting stopped by police for “Driving While Black”? A broken tail light is one of the most common excuses police use to stop black drivers.  The stop for that seemingly minor traffic offense frequently escalates into arrests for more serious offenses, and sometimes ends with a black driver being shot and killed by police. To reduce the frequency of such encounters, the  Orlando Democratic Socialists  group is holding a special event this Saturday (April 7) they’re calling “Gimme A Brake Free Brake Light Changes.” Volunteers from the activist group will be checking and repairing tail lights on residents’ cars so police won’t have an excuse to stop and needlessly hassle drivers -- especially minorities.
