A new day is coming to Pine Hills and it looks like it might be starting with a bus – a new bus station, to be exact. Pine Hills bus stop Next month Pine Hills residents and Evans High School students will meet with transit officials to begin planning a new bus transfer station for the Pine Hills community. That new bus transfer station has the potential to become the focal point for a Town Center for the community, something planners and leaders have discussed for years. The transfer station would be located on Belco Drive, behind the Winn-Dixie supermarket shopping center on Pine Hills Road. The Lynx bus system bought the vacant lot next to the Urban League offices several months ago for $530,000. San Bernadino bus station is one example Now the bus system has $3 million to build the transfer station, which must be able to accommodate 8 to 10 buses. Big Pine Hills meeting on Tuesday

The Pine Hills pedestrian and safety study will be the top agenda item at Tuesday’s Pine Hills Community Council meeting. That Orange County study is focused on busy Pine Hills and Silver Star roads to make those thoroughfares safer for vehicles, bicycles and pedestrians in the area. The Pine Hills Trail is set to officially open its first leg later this month. The path – reserved strictly for pedestrians and bicycles – is planned to cross the sprawling Pine Hills community and connect the Shingle Creek Trail with the Seminole-Wekiva Trail. In addition to traffic and transportation other big news in the community includes the opening of the rebuilt Mollie Ray Elementary School and opening the new Oak Hill Elementary School – both serving Pine Hills. Together those schools add up to nearly $40 million of new public investment in the Pine Hills area. Tuesday’s meeting starts at 7 p.m. at the Pine Hills Community Center, 6408 N. The Pine Hills Trail is getting ready for its grand opening

A pedestrian trail changed dreary downtown Winter Garden into one of the hottest spots in Orange County. Pine Hills Trail at Balboa And now Pine Hills is poised to get that same pedestrian trail treatment. The first leg of the Pine Hills Trail is ready for its official grand opening next month.
