Check out the new Ivey Lane school

The Ivey Lane community is in for a treat on Monday.

That’s when officials will host a sneak peek for students, parents and neighbors to come check out the new Ivey Lane Elementary School.

The school at 209 Silverton St., just off Old Winter Garden Road, was rebuilt at a cost of $19 million.

The classrooms, offices and equipment are all new.

Some of the highlights include the music, art and computer labs.

The smartboards, computers and other technology is over the top.

School Board member Kat Gordon, who represents the area where Ivey Lane, is located said she is delighted with all the new construction recently completed throughout the district.

She said the new construction is an expensive and important investment in the future of the children and the communities where the schools are located.

The construction was paid for with a half-cent sales tax that was approved by voters. The tax referendum raised $4 billion to pay for school construction.

The school will be open for visitors from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday.

The new school year begins on Monday, Aug. 14.
