Want better public transit?

Tired of waiting for an hour in the sun for a Lynx bus to get home after work?

Fed up with no SunRail train service on the weekends or late at night?

You’re not alone.

A group of local activists have formed the Fix Orlando Public Transit to stop griping and do something about the lackluster public transit in Central Florida.

David Thomas Moran, one of the founders said, “We need more spaces for transit riders and their allies to congregate and mobilize. I hope this group will help connect and empower folks – lift up their voices.

“The transit rider community knows what it needs and is tired of being left behind by neglect’ poor planning and lack of funding.”

“If our elected officials locally and statewide don’t have the political courage to invest in accessible, effective and meaningful public transit,” Moran said, “we will have the courage to stand up and fight for it ourselves.”

Transit riders have the potential to become a powerful political force and voting bloc. Everyday more than 100,000 people rely on Lynx and SunRail.

If you use, or rely on public transit, you can join this fight to make local elected officials take public transit seriously and make it a top priority for improved funding and attention.

The first step is to make your feelings known by joining Fix Orlando Public Transit on Facebook. Then, post your ideas on what needs to be done.
