Brutal cop may be banned permenantly

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office has taken preliminary steps to get the brutal Westridge Middle School resource office permanently banned from police work.

Harry Reid, the school resource officer, captured in a viral video and a police bodycam viciously yanking the head and hair of a teen-age girl during an incident last week on Oak Ridge Road, was fired immediately
by the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff John Mina said it looked as though Reid “lost control.”

A spokesperson for the Orange County Sheriff’s Office said, “All of these types of cases are reported to FDLE (Florida Department of Law Enforcement).

When our investigators forward their findings to the State Attorney’s Office, they will also send a form to FLDE that documents that someone has been terminated while under investigation. This starts the process for FDLE and the Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission to make a determination on the status of the LEO certification.”

Clearly, Reid is unsuited for police work anywhere.

Revoking Reid’s law enforcement credentials is a critical step, because in the past brutal or crooked officers fired from one agency, such as Orlando or Orange County, have applied for and gotten jobs with smaller police departments elsewhere in Florida. There are nearly 400 police agencies in Florida.

In addition, the outcome of the Orange County internal investigation will be turned over to the State Attorney’s Office to determine if Reid should face criminal prosecution for his actions.

The charges could range from battery to kidnapping – as Reid dragged the girl to a police car and locked her in it briefly.
