Register to vote by Tuesday -- Feb. 18

Pass the word. This Tuesday (Feb. 18) is the last day to register to vote in the Florida Presidential Primary.

President Trump is a shoo-in as the Republican candidate. The real contest is on the Democratic ticket where there are 8 candidates competing to be the nominee for president.

Florida is a closed primary state, which means you must be registered as a Democratic voter to vote in the primary, which will be held March 17. Early voting starts March 3.

Tuesday is also the deadline if you want to change your political party affiliation.

You can register before the deadline at any public library; drivers’ license office; Department of Children’s and Family Office; at the Center for Independent Living or at the elections’ office, 119 W. Kaley St., near downtown Orlando.

If you have questions, call 407-836-2070.

The registration process involves answering a few questions and signing your name (very important.)

Even if you’ve previously registered to vote, it’s wise to ensure your registration is in order by clicking here.

As of Friday, the Democratic candidates still in the race include Bernie Sanders, Joe Biden, Elizabeth Warren, Michael Bloomberg, Pete Buttigieg, Amy Klobuchar, Tom Steyer and Tulsi Gabbard.
