Why does Commissioner Hill ignore "social distance" rules during the coronavirus epidemic?
Orlando City District 5 Commissioner Regina Hill must not think it’s important to practice social distancing during the coronavirus pandemic.
What other explanation could there be for Commissioner Hill sponsoring a youth fishing event on Friday?
Officials
from Washington, D.C. to the Orange County Administration building have ordered
everyone to stay inside their house unless they must take care of “essential”
chores, and to wear a face mask if they must go out. The officials specifically
warned against engaging in group activities during this dangerous time.

Commissioner Hill, who boasts of her health care background, posted Facebook
photos of herself with youngsters during the event.
In the caption for the photos Commissioner Hill wrote: “As I look for more ways to further enhance the skills and knowledge of the youth in the community, I have partnered with the MACK program to teach 9 kids that I sponsored in Parramore how to fish. I believe it is advantageous to learn these skills and to keep our youth productive during this time.”
This isn’t Commissioner Hill’s first rodeo with "do as I say, not as I do.". Last week Commissioner Hill posted photos of herself distributing meals to senior citizens. She was not wearing a mask in those photos, even though seniors are particularly vulnerable to the virus.
In case Commissioner Hill missed it, Florida’s governor issued a stay-at-home order last week. Orlando officials are so serious about stopping gatherings outside the home that they even took down basketball nets and volleyball nets in city parks.

The issue of social distancing and wearing face masks is particularly important in the historically black district Commissioner Hill represents. Data shows that the coronavirus is disproportionally sickening and killing black people.
Hopefully Commissioner Hill did not inadvertently come into contact with an infected person and endanger her health during her photo ops.
Friday afternoon during a coronavirus press conference, Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer told residents: “Your staying home and your efforts are making a difference.”
Except for Commissioner Hill.
